I think I’m going to DNF a book, not because of the story but because of The Story.
There is an author I like, Lexi C. Foss, who has become somehow an author I love, especially when it comes to audiobooks.
I have this little kink when it comes to audiobooks. I like them to have a full cast or at least a male and female narrator—I hate when the narrator uses voices of opposite genders; it just spoils the story for me. Lexi’s books are also the perfect example of reverse harem done right, and as she is my latest favourite, I just buy whatever new audiobook she releases.
Here comes the caveat. I noticed a full-cast audio titled Winter Fae Queen and instantly purchased it. I expected the usual steaminess, a multi-faceted relationship and a little action. What I didn’t expect was a Winter Wonderland, a fae acting like a horny Santa and a whole bunch of elves jiggling their balls.
The story is still good, but hearing the heavy-handed spirit of comfort and joy so close to summer grated on my last nerve.
Yes, I’m the grumpy Grinch who hates premature Christmas. So I think I will DNF the book for now, shelve it until December, then force Mark to listen to it with me, naked, in bed with eggnog and tinsel around … just in December 🤣
