Amazon Ads and Nightmares

Have you ever felt like you have no idea what you doing and someone is hitting you in the head with a shovel?

Well, that’s me and Amazon ads, or as they are known, AMS. At some point in your career, every indie author just has to do it if they want to sell the books. Or at least try to do it. I keep trying, but as much as I consider myself an intelligent woman, I feel like a complete dork when it comes to algorithms, ROI, ACOS, CPC and many… many other terms.

After bleeding money for some time in my clumsy attempts to advertise my books, I braced myself and signed up for the course. It was great; the chap was passionate about the subject, but I still don’t know what I’m doing and, more importantly, what I’m doing wrong.

What is funny is that several hours of learning came with interesting results. I had nightmares like never before. Somehow, my overburdened brain weaved together the recent protests on Truro Square, my love for cats, the Amazon ads algorithm and general frustration into a convoluted scene.

In my dream, I woke up to go downstairs, only to find my living room full of people who were protesting keeping cats indoors. And they had a bloody party. I kicked them out, locked them in my enclosed garden, and called the police.

Who told me that according to the keywords, it was my turn to host the protests, and they couldn’t do anything about it.

I woke up blinded by pure rage, and it took me a moment to calm down, convincing myself it was just a dream. Luckily for Mark, he was still asleep and didn’t have to listen to my uncensored words about the whole ad setup system.

It was the most bizarre dream I’ve had in a long time. And what about you? What weirdest dream you have?
