Sometimes, when you screw something up, you do it really well, and I have a special talent for impatience and messing up with data. I signed myself up to the amazon author ads school to learn how to increase my sales via the Zon.
I have to say that the information looks fantastic; I went through the challenge, set up all the ads and waited. Initially, everything went well. I started selling more books, and then I got this brilliant idea to fiddle with the categories and keywords just to make it a little bit better.
And I did it all at once despite teachers saying impatience is the wrong adviser.
You know the saying, ‘Don’t fix what’s not broken’? Yup, I just improved so much that my KENP readings dropped in half. Because my brain doesn’t process mathematics and numbers as any highly educated person should, I don’t even know where to start to fix it.
I’m seriously thinking of asking Mark to hit my head with the shovel, but it is what it is, and on top of every other bit and piece I have to do as an indie author, I have to educate myself in statistics and data, even if this is going to kill me. The problem is some people see the numbers, and they tell them the story, point out where the problem is and even give them the solution. For me, it is goopy gook. The number is the number and nothing else.
I can deduce if the patient is going to live or die with a single look on their face. Or see the connection between a chronic hoarse voice and the travel to London, but numbers don’t tell me a thing.
If you have any thoughts and prayers, it is time to shower them on me because the only thing I have in my head now is that maybe I should wear a bird suit and record myself shaking the tambourine and shouting, ‘Buy my books’ on TikTok. At least that activity doesn’t involve numbers.
